Day 1 - 23 Jan 2013

Finally at the airport. Haven't been here since September.

Pathumwan Princess is my favourite hotel in Bangkok. I stay there exclusively. Its location is perfect, right next to MBK, Siam Square and within walking distance to Central World. Also, they have cute towel origami. Last time it was a bulldog. This time an elephant.

Terminal 21. Its a mall, not an airport. But it tries is darnest to transport you around the world.

First meal in Bangkok. Ramen. Meanwhile, I cannot get to go to Japan. *sigh*

Golden Gate Bridge Mockup inside the Mall.

Istanbul bathroom. Though there were no semi-naked men giving oil massages, not that I wanted one.

I am not allowed to publish what I really want to say.

Rome bathroom.

San Francisco bathroom

The ceiling decor on the Istanbul floor. Lovely lights

London bathroom was not as interesting inside as it was outside.

Same for the Tokyo bathroom. Much more interesting signs.

Beautiful lanterns on the Tokyo floor.

No prizes for guessing which level this was. Yup. Rome.

Inside and outside the Caribbean bathroom. Are drums racist?

The Hollywood bathroom. I'm sure there are paparazzi  in the bathrooms in Hollywood too.

Inside and outside the San Francisco Pier bathroom. I'm not sure why San Fran had 2 floors, where every other city had 1.

I desperately wanted this t-shirt. But 1) Right size, wrong colour. 2) Right colour, no size.

James May's shirt collection.

Take the MRT to 'Asok' station. It's right at Terminal 21.

Putting the finishing touches on the amazing fish.

The streetside stall is preparing for service.

They had a pretty decent spread of seafood as well.

Mmmmm. I can't wait. Last time, I had the skinny fish in front. It was not enough. This time, we went for the bigger fish at the back. And btw, the small fist cost 160 baht (about $6.50 sgd), and the large fish was 250 baht (about $10 sgd).

mmmmmmmm

Grilled pork neck. It was decent, not great. But the accompanying chilli sauce was out of this world.

Best fish in the world...

Nothing left of the best fish in the world.

Bubble bath for ME.

Day 2 - 24 Jan 2013

Wat Arun, Temple of the Dawn.

My favourite photo of the entire trip. The making of this shot is on my facebook page.

Day view of Wat Arun

ONE lady on a boat selling bananas does NOT a floating market make.

I was more interested in this MG outside the gem factory.

4th Floor food court inside MBK. If you need to eat in MBK, skip the 'international food street' on the 5th floor. Go down to the 4th floor and eat here.

Choice of beef or pork noodles.

I went for beef.

I cannot resist street food, and I cannot resist unknown meats on sticks.
Amazingly, this tasted like a bite of chicken rice. All it needed was some chicken rice chilli for dipping. I think its rice mixed with pork and spices wrapped in sausage skin.

Our dinner, river cruise boat.

Inside our dinner, river cruise boat

We had one seafood set, and one thai set. The seafood set was well worth it. Although it was a little disappointing that the food was served cold. I could smell the prawns being grilled and it smelled amazing. If only they could have served it hot.

I believe that instrument is called a khim.

Traditional Thai dance.
