Day 1 : 2 Oct 2014. Landing in Geneva, Sleeping in France

I had bought Air France as it was one of the cheapest at the time, little did I know the excitement that would follow. The flight was to fly into Charles De Gaulle and then transit to a domestic flight to Geneva airport. 2 weeks before the trip, the Air France pilots decide to go on strike. Most flights cancelled (including mine from Singapore to Paris). I was watching the news closely hoping for some change. It wasn't right till last minute, literally, that the strike was called off. And even then, the day before's flight was still cancelled. Thank whichever stars were looking out for me, my flight went off without a hitch. It was very crowded, which was expected, but it left on time, reached CDG on time, and I made it to Geneva on time.

From Geneva airport, I took the most expensive taxi ride in my life to the hotel. Turns out (and I did not know this), the hotel was in France. I had neglected to do proper research. Oh well, I'm just so happy to get there without any adventure.

The hotel (ibis Styles saint julien en genevois vitam) is actually part of a 'resort'. There is a big waterworld type establishment linked to the hotel (My hotel booking also allowed me free entry to the water park). And there is also a supermarket and shops in the same building. I quite liked the location. There was also a MacDonalds, which prompted the old 'Royale with cheese' line and ONE restaurant (which turned out to be quite good)

I did NOT want my first meal in Europe to be Macs, so I went to the supermarket and grabbed some ham, butter and bread. The ham was amazing, the butter was out of this world. Best butter I've ever had? Yup. So far.

Met up with Fabien to hit the water park with little Jonah, then dinner with them in the restaurant. That restaurant does not seem to have an online presence. I cannot, for the life of me, find it on google. Pity. It was a nice place and I would recommend it to anyone.
