Sapporo : Day 1

Sunrise Arrival in the Land of the Rising Sun

Yup. Japan has vending machines...

ALWHI, the sun and the clouds were in perfect alignment for this shot.

Sapporo welcomed us with beautiful blue skies.

Mercure Sapporo, nice big room
with a nice view.

The Original Ramen Alley

Bourdain was here. 'Nuff said.

This old guy cooked Bourdain's bowl of Ramen on No Reservations.

Oh yes. Bourdain had this exact same bowl. Though there was a larger knob of butter if I remember correctly.

This is the listing of Ramen Shops along the street. Each shop barely sits 10, but ALWHI, we went at non-peak times, so we never had to wait or queue.

Sanbangai Shopping Street

Miyabun Knife Store.

I did think of buying something for Jack.

Invisible Man eating Ramen.

This was one of the warning signs at all escalators leading to the subway. I couldn't resist. I told the BH that I would so vandalise the picture. I leave it to your imagination as to what I would have drawn.

Pole Town. Its actually an underground mall running perpendicular to Sanbangai.

External view of Sapporo Dome.

I forgot to mention the opening ceremony to the game. It was cool. Traditional Japanese Dance + flags and a marching band....

Ok. The picture is not very clear, but the 2nd guy on the left, after the guy in the red jacket, is Jose Altuve. And next to him is Yasial Puig. They were both on my fantasy team.

The cut-out for Altuve.

Ramen Dinner. Lunch was so much better.
