The empty streets of Otaru (we got there about 7ish)
Sankaku Fish Market
TAKO
UNI DON!!!
Grilled Live Scallop
We came across this little store that sold the ultimate in cute kitty knick knacks. We could not resist
Is this the dog that sat at the station waiting for its master?
Otaru has a canal that runs parallel to the docks. It's quite beautiful and they actually have festivities at night.
The Otaru docks.
We found this cute little street right across from the tourist information centre that sold really interesting food. Too bad we were too full from breakfast.
One of the more 'commercial' fish supermarkets. This place was quite expensive as compared to the Sankaku Mkt.
Yoichi Station.
Nikka Whisky Barrels. Good sign that we're in the right place.
I really really like Nikka From the Barrel. Tried it at the last whisky frisky tasting and I really wanted to buy some.
The tripod is there for visitors to take posed photos with the barrel.
The barrel has proof of life and the little stool is for you to put your camera. AWESOME.
oh yes. "Sampling Place" and "Raw Whisky Direct Sales Shop"
I liked this display. You can see the colour of the booze while it ages, and open up the lid on top to have a whiff. Unmatured smells like gasoline. 5 year smells like gasoline with honey and 15 year smells like honey with gasoline.
The free sampling bar has an awesome view. Go sit by the window and take in the sights.
Gift Shop.
I missed this while walking down those stairs towards the station. Caught it on the way back.
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD.
